What we’ve been working on

Ask A Climate Researcher

Client: University of Leeds
Deliverables: 20 individual videos, 1 feature video, 1 social edit
Project aims: Showcase the climate institute’s expertise and engage with a broader audience about climate change, especially young people

This series of videos was a concept developed by Adarak in partnership with the research institute. It was important that we gained a strong understanding of their campaign to ensure all of the videos clearly communicated the issues to a non-academic audience, with particular focus on younger people. By thoroughly researching their work, we produced a full script of questions to ask the ten climate researchers. We also proposed an additional idea to ask all of the contributors the same question, which we could edit into one promotional video for the series, at no extra cost.

In post-production, suitable stock footage was sourced to complement the topics being discussed, and animated text was designed to fit the desired style. We worked closely with the university’s team to provide as much support as possible, and the full project was delivered within a short timeframe to meet the funding deadlines required. The campaign was highly successful, and as a result, Adarak were asked by the university’s central marketing team to provide versions for their main TikTok account, to reach an even bigger audience. This also led to a follow-on project with another set of videos released ahead of COP27 - examples below.

We launched the ‘Ask a Climate Researcher’ series yesterday and the response has blown us away. ... We are so pleased with the videos and appreciate all your hard work in making our vision a reality.

LSSI co-production research toolkit

Client: University of Leeds
Deliverables: 8 case study videos, 4 edited video podcasts, 4 full-length audio podcasts
Project aims: Produce a video and audio toolkit for best practice in social sciences research

The project team wanted to inspire other early career researchers to incorporate the techniques and methods discussed in their future research. Adarak was responsible for all scripting, which required gaining a detailed understanding of complex research topics. All videos were filmed at different locations, both on and off the university campus, but were edited to ensure there was consistency across the series. We worked closely with the marketing and communications team to provide as much support as possible, and the full project was delivered within a short timeframe to meet the funding deadlines required.

Thank you so much for all the work you have done for us, it has been a pleasure working with you and we are delighted with the results.

FASTA App - animated promo videos

Client: University of Leeds
Deliverables: 2 animated videos
Project aims: Engage directly with food producers in Kenya, as well as other stakeholders such as funding bodies and other international organisations.

It was crucial to be sensitive to the subjects being discussed, and ensure the animations were as accessible as possible to all audiences. Adarak also liaised directly with a voice over agency in Nairobi to get authentic voice over talent for the video. We worked closely with the university team throughout the project to provide as much support as possible, and the animations needed to be delivered within a very short timeframe to meet the funding deadlines required.

Specialist Skills Support Programme

Client: University of York
Deliverables: 1 main marketing video, 1 long-term video, 1 social edit
Project aims: Engage directly with food producers in Kenya, as well as other stakeholders such as funding bodies and other international organisations.

The aim of this short series of videos was to engage with SME decision makers in the North Yorkshire and East Riding region, and encourage them to register for the funded support available to them, with the ultimate aim of increasing graduate recruitment within SMEs.

Adarak filmed within the small business’s premises and on the university campus, adding drone footage to provide an extra dimension to the footage, and make a connection to the region. Custom motion graphics were designed in line with the programme’s brand guidelines to ensure the content fit seamlessly within their other marketing.

Road safety animations

Client: Warrington Borough Council
Deliverables: 3 animated videos, 3 social edits
Project aims: Clearly present road safety messages to drivers in Warrington.

The project team had not commissioned video content before, so we supported them by offering as much guidance and assistance as possible, and arranged online development meetings to discuss ideas and specific details of the videos. It was important that we understood the various documentation that had been produced over recent years regarding vehicle maintenance and journey planning.

We wrote the full scripts, which were signed off with minimal changes, and produced storyboards with full character design to show each scene clearly, before progressing to the animation stage. Voice over talent was also sourced, utilising an artist from North West England to tie in to Warrington’s target demographic.

WOW!! This is brilliant. Clear, concise and exactly what we were after! Great work!
— Road Safety Officer, Warrington Borough Council
